InFlexiable.

By Maggie:

I try to go to a yoga class on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 AM. I have a very black or white mentality when it comes to exercise (among other things). I was training for a race last year missed one week of training and never went back. I have gone running since then but not with the same verve or consistency. Last fall I was going to this yoga class regularly until I got a few early morning appointments that conflicted with it and I had not gone to the class again until last week. It seems like my schedule has worked out in a way that at least for now I can go.

How do I get back in the habit once I break it? Just power through and force myself? Maybe, but I am very stubborn. My mom always said that if I could channeled my stubbornness into positive things that I could do anything and that no one could make me do anything I did not want to do. Well tomorrow is a yoga day so we will see whether my desire for sleep or for stretch is stronger. Wish me luck!

Cause that's how I roll

By Maggie:

I love listening to NPR (National Public Radio for those of you who are not liberal nerds like me). I also love listening to Salt Lake City crappy Hip Hop radio station. So on any given day I could be listening to either station. I noticed something kind of funny about myself the other day. I had a classmate get in my car one time and I turned the key the hip hop station started blasting. She gave me a funny look and made a snarky comment. I quickly lowered the music and changed it to NPR as nonchalantly as possible. When I drop my car off at the valet when I am interpreting at the hospital I always change to NPR before I give them my car. I never really paid that much attention to it. Then today I was leaving a pay parking lot and changed my radio station to NPR before I rolled down my window. I promptly changed it back and did some awesome car dance moves on my way home.

So today after doing that I tried to figure out why I hide my love of car dancing to the same 5 hip hop songs they play over and over again on the SLC radio station. Perhaps because those who have caught me in the past always tease me. Well world I want you too know that I love me some hip hop/get down music. On some days I need to listen to that more than Diane Rehm and Doug Fabrizio.

Maggie: Not having ice cream is not as much fun as having ice cream.

Holidays

We had a busy holiday season this year. Hanukkah was celebrated with our good friend Sara who occasionally reads our blog so hey Sara. We went to her Hanukkah party and she came to the theater with us to see The Wedding Singer (the musical stage production). Sara was lovely the food at the Dodo after was delicious the show was not so great.

Christmas was in Pittsburgh and it was wonderful to be home. Highlights include holding my beautiful niece as much as I could. Sibling time was great. Getting to spend time with my cousin and her family. We facebook/blog chat but it was wonderful to get some face to face time. I know Colt had fun going on manventures with the brothers/cousin in-law. I loved getting to see my family and my friends. It was Colt's first Christmas with my family and I think he did really well.

Once back in Utah we headed down to St George to spend time with my wonderful mother in law Jodie. We drove after Colt got off work and did pseudo Christmas first thing in the morning. We spent New Years with a good friend of Colt's from high school. It was fun getting to meet some of her friends and seeing how bigs her kids have gotten.

I hope you all had a fabulous holiday season!
